Having set off in 1999 to purchase a Tibetan Terrier dog-a breed Sue had loved for many years, we came home with a white bitch-Daisy(Shanshu Ice-Queen). Life was never the same again. 18 months later came Poppy (Shanshu It's Cinnamon), a friend for Daisy.

About this time we started becoming interested in showing and dabbled a little, but really began to pursue this, and played less golf, after we'd acquired Shanshu Eternity (Fern) and her sister, Shanshu Betty Blue of Solandays (Betty). They both did us proud, and Betty continues to do so. Betty has to her credit numerous Firsts, Best of Breed and Group placings at Open Shows and a number of Firsts and placings at Championship show level. As a puppy she achieved Reserve Best Puppy in Show at Harrogate C.S. Open Show under Judge Frank Kane.

In 2004 we decided to breed our first litter from Daisy and Ch Shanshu Givenchy JW (Solomon). We adopted as our Kennel Name Solandays, an amalgamation of Solomon and Daisy. From this litter we kept Solandays Sweet Daisy Junia (Junia). She has a number of Open Show wins to her name, including Best of Breed, Championship Show placings and has qualified for Crufts.

In 2005 our adorable girl, Fern, died aged 18 months after a sudden and unexpected illness. We wanted to ensure a lasting memory of her and so changed our Affix to Merrifern. Our little clown Fern was always merry and her name on all future puppies gives us a great deal of joy.

2003-2005

In 2006 we mated Daisy for the second (and final) time to Khados Howz' That SchCh, and so we have Percie (Merrifern Thatz' How.) Percie is a constant light in our lives, probably one of the most joyful dogs you could wish to meet.We also bought in from the Khados Kennels, Khados Fallen Madonna with Merrifern (Madge). Madge provides us with a great deal of fun both in and out of the show ring-having won her first four puppy classes at Championship shows, gaining numerous Classes, Best of Breeds and Group placings at Open shows and in 2006 being awarded the Tibetan Terrier Association's Danjubet Special Beginners Trophy. We are very proud of her.

Poppy was also mated in 2006-a busy year- to Khados Howz' That. From this litter we kept Frankie (Merrifern Divine Diva). Shown sparingly, she is beginning to make her mark in the ring.

And finally in 2007 the Betty and Ch. Khados Boris the Bold JW litter provided us with Willow (Merrifern Blue Velvet) whose show career has got off to an excellent start.

And that's Merrifern-for now............
